For a country town restaurant, Gurkha 19 does not disappoint. Impressive menu, prompt service. Booking advised, our visit was a Saturday evening, and was very busy.
On arrival at 6.30pm we were allocated our table and asked if we would like drinks which we ordered along with some poppadums, these were delivered swiftly and we ordered our food, 2 x starters and 2 x mains. We had not finished the poppadums before our starters came. Without asking if it was OK, the poppadums were pushed aside and the starters plonked down in front of us. 10 minutes later the waiting staff started appearing near to the table, obviously eager to clear the table. Within 5 minutes of clearing the table, we had our main courses, once served we asked for 2 glasses of wine. They never appeared, once the meal was finished we asked for the bill which never appeared. 30 minutes later, 1 hour and 10 minutes after arrival we got up and went to the bar to pay and explain what had happened, no apology was given only denials that we hadn't asked them directly. Not at all happy, the food was good but we felt horribly rushed and then the service stopped at the end. If they had allowed us the time to eat and given us the drinks we had ordered we would have been more than happy to pay what we did. We will not return.
Great meal we lived in Leicester and this meal still ranks as one of the best
Very very good Indian, sadly not much to do with Gurka type dishes, otherwise it would be five stars. Eaten here 3 times recently and has been consistently very good.
Just as good as before now. Amazing food. Great service. Yum. It's the only place to eat a fantastic curry. Far better than the Agra. The food is bursting with flavour
